Name: Reyna Temhyr
Nickname: The Red Death, Valentine
Age: 22
What sort of animal do you shift into: Wolverine
Shifter type: Hybrid
Animal description: Wolverine Form Her green eyes carry over into her wolverine form. She also has a patch of fur missing from her left hind leg in a jagged pattern running from her flank to her hock.
Physical description: Being 5'6" and weighing in at about 140 LBS, Reyna is a fairly healthy, hourglass-shaped individual. Her bright green eyes are in perfect contrast with her fiery red hair, making them "pop out" and become her most noticeable feature. Although she stands up straight, she tends to favor her right side as the result of an old injury to her left hip that never healed properly. This injury also causes her to have a debilitating limp when confronted with a cold environment, however this is the only time it becomes a hindrance.
As a result of the testing done to her at the laboratories, her cheeks became encoded with wolverine DNA, resulting in the belief that Reyna has possession of a muzzle in human form. As a result, when she smiles, her cheeks are able to be pulled up much further than what is normal. The resulting smile reveals sharp, carnivorous teeth in a smile that takes up nearly the entire bottom half of her face.
The color pigmentation of a wolverine's fur also got transferred to her human skin minutely, giving her skin a golden glow that can only be seen when standing in direct sunlight.
Her body, with the exception of her head and face, is littered with scars as a result of her time at the laboratory.
Fears: Large crowds, confined spaces
Likes: the rain, small animals, natural rhythmic noises (i.e. water dripping steadily onto a hard surface)
Dislikes: Animals bred to do nothing but end up on a dinner table, blunt weapons, Batman (or other masked vigilante hero types)
Special talents: Very agile; slightly enhanced sense of balance; can crush bones and other hard objects with her teeth in human form
History: Reyna was orphaned at the age of ten as a result of her father's reckless driving early one October morning. She spent the next year bouncing in and out of foster homes, each foster family uttering the same complaint: she deeply disturbed them, so much so that they just couldn't take being near her. Reyna could generally be regarded as a typical child, she was curious about the world, the way things worked. She took magnifying glasses to ants just like any normal child would, but where watching a defenseless creature writhe in agony would result in the child’s brain realizing that this was wrong, Reyna’s relished the feeling of power she received while the small creature cried out in silent pleas for mercy.
At the age of 12, she was placed with a foster family that owned several acres of land and was immediately put to work taking care of the animals and doing chores around the farm. On this farm, she was introduced to cows for the first time. They weren’t special cows, they had no names, they were only known by the numbers pierced into their ears. Day after day, she was forced to stare at these soulless creatures as they stood in their wide open field, staring at her, staring through her. She grew to detest them and with each passing day this hatred grew stronger.
Then, on one sunny, humid day, staring into those lifeless eyes as they looked through her, she snapped. Before she even knew what she was doing, Reyna had grasped a nearby electric cattle prod, stabbed it into the cow’s throat and pressed the button, sending jolts of electricity straight into its insides. The poor creature barely even had time to react as she twisted the prod to lodge it even further into the cow’s throat. The gurgles emanating from the cow’s red foamed mouth was like the sound track of a beautiful opera. Unfortunately, the barn was located close where her current foster father was working away and the death throes of the cow quickly brought attention to itself.
The shrieks of rage that came from her foster father broke the spell that had been placed on Reyna and she did the only thing that she could think of: run. She tore out of the barn like a streak of lightning across the sky and her foster father kept pace with her for quite some time. Unfortunately, because of his age he was quickly falling behind and in an effort to stop Reyna, took a few shots at her with a pistol he kept with him at all times in case of an emergency. The first few shots missed wildly, but one hit the target, smashing cleanly through her left hip. However, the wound did not result in the desired effect as Reyna was running on pure adrenaline. The wound only proved to cause her to stumble slightly and then she increased her speed to disappear into the woods in the back of his property.
Reyna was found lost in the woods a few days later by a group of hikers, her wound proving to be too great for her to find her way out on her own. She was taken in by one of the women, and upon Reyna’s incessant pleas to not be taken to a hospital, was nursed back to health in about a year and a half. After becoming healthy enough to get around easily, she escaped into the night and was never seen in the town again.
Over the next few years, she established a reputation for herself that began with the simple act of stealing from random stranger on the street to provide for herself. However, it became more and more difficult for her to control her sadistic urges. The same urges that led her to burning the antennae off of ants as a child and to kill the cow so many years ago, were now invading her simple life once again. Eventually, she became overrun with these feelings and committed a murder most foul.
This opened up a world of new possibilities. As her blade dug into the soft flesh of her victim and his warm life splashed onto her hands, she felt a joy that she had never experienced before. Killing became her addiction, she began to do it not just to survive, but for sport, like one would go hunting for deer. After some time, just as hunters hung the antlers of deer they had slain on their walls, Reyna too, began to take trophies of her kill.
As a child, Reyna had watched numerous foster parent’s cook and eat the heart of the game that they caught. When she had asked why, one had told her that, in eating the heart of the animal, one gained the strength that the animal had possessed in its heart. She had thought that this was a silly idea, but now that she was presented with “game” of her own, she wanted to try it. Thus, began the tradition of her cutting out the heart of her victim’s and eating it raw.
As was expected, she was eventually picked up by the local police and condemned to death. However, after killing three cell mates, it was found that death would be too good of a punishment for an animal such as her. She was sent off to an obscure laboratory where she would face her punishment in the face of science and genetic advancement.
Anything Else: Because of her rebellious nature and fear of confined spaces, the small cells at the laboratory practically drove her insane. The panic caused her to lash out at anyone who came too close, resulting in guards having to take action against her with fists and night sticks. When those proved to be useless against her blind rampages, the guards resorted to using knives and tranquilizing darts to bring her to her knees and make her compliant. After bringing her back to her cell, they began shackling her to the floor for their own safety the next time they wanted to perform tests on her.
Rp example: The cat looked up from nursing her four kittens, her ears pinned against her head as a small cardboard box canopy was placed over her. A hiss escaped her mouth before her vocal chords began vibrating to produce a low growl, her tail flicking back and forth in warning. Her growl ceased as a hand with a small piece of red flesh was extended in front of her, an offering of peace. The queen’s golden eyes peered at the stranger in front of her cautiously before craning her neck to sniff the fingers, her tongue eventually finding the source of sustenance. She licked it once, twice, three times before trying to pick it up with her teeth, the food falling back into the stranger’s palm at a failed effort. The queen began to get up, jostling the young ones, but before she could get up the piece of flesh was on the ground near her head. She ate it ravenously as her kitten mewled at her stomach, the queen growling in return.
The stranger stood up, a curtain of bright red hair cascading down her back like a waterfall. She looked at the top of the box as fat raindrops plopped on the top, mixing melodically with the suckling of the kittens at their mother’s belly. The strange combination blended together into a beautiful song, as if being sung straight from the lungs of an angel. The stranger wished that she could stay there for just a little longer, listening to the music and admiring the queen for what she had given the world, but just as the mother would have to leave the shelter of the cardboard box to find sustenance, she too would have to move on before long.
The rain had begun to drizzle steadily, pooling in small red puddles around the strangers boots. She looked into one, her own reflection appearing before her. The blood stained lips, the matted bangs, the weary eyes, they were all her. Her own bright green eyes staring into those that floated on the surface of the blood-tainted water; it was as if she was peering into her own soul, searching for something she knew she would not find.
The stranger left then, her footsteps echoing on the wet pavement of the alleyway, the kittens suckling drifting into the background as one thought echoed in her head, the one that always came to her in the silence of her mind: ’You are an animal.’
